Yet another venture…
A couple weeks ago a friend – Chad – and myself, inadvertently decided (we won’t go into how this decision was made… ) that we were going to start a small recording side business. Our friends with Deadcore in Lawton, OK will be the first test of whether we can pull this off or not.
We have the equipment. We have the nerdy capacity to learn every inkling of the software and hardware inside and out. We have the desire to intricately embrace every facet of the task at hand… Do you think we can successfully handle the creative and engineering requirements of studio recording without the studio location? Well, we’re going to try. Stay tuned for some death metal musical genius!
If this goes over well, which I certainly hope it does, we’ll be opening this service up for other bands. We figure, most recording studios worth their salt generally charge $500 – $600 per hour or track, so we’re going to undercut them significantly, just to gain experience in the industry and see how we fair. We were thinking $250 – $300 for an album. It’ll be almost like a one stop shop for a band. We’ll have recording, album art design, web design, and we can even do swag design – stickers / t-shirts / posters / whatever.
By the way, we’re on the lookout for a location that we can convert into a studio. If you have such a location and would be interested in partnering up with us, you can feel free to contact me and let me know!
